Dr. Austin Toresdahl provides comprehensive medical and surgical comanagement care with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered optometry. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Alberta and his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, followed by advanced clinical training in Calgary and Grande Prairie, Alberta.
He later practiced at an ophthalmology clinic in Chicago, Illinois, where he worked closely with subspecialists in cornea, retina, glaucoma, uveitis, oculoplastics, and pediatrics, gaining extensive experience in perioperative and ocular disease management.
Dr. Toresdahl’s clinical interests include glaucoma, ocular surface/dry eye disease, and specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses.
As a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of both the British Columbia and Canadian Optometric Associations, Dr. Toresdahl is committed to advancing clinical standards and scope of practice while fostering collaboration between optometry and ophthalmology. He actively engages in continuing education and regularly reviews current research to ensure his patients receive the most up-to-date care.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Toresdahl enjoys running and road trips, often accompanied by an audiobook or podcast, and spending time with his family. He conducts eye examinations in English and basic Spanish, and is dedicated to providing every patient with compassionate, individualized, and high-quality medical eyecare.
