Dr. Lauren Carr, MD, FRCSC is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist, educator, and medical editor, known for her sharp clinical acumen and dedication to advancing the field of eye care. Originally from Vancouver, BC, Dr. Carr discovered her passion for ophthalmology while studying at the prestigious University of Toronto School of Medicine, one of Canada’s top medical schools. Her fascination with the complexities of the human eye and her drive to educate the next generation of physicians propelled her to become a lecturer and clinical skills instructor at McMaster University. Dr. Carr has also contributed to medical scholarship as an editor for a medical student run compendium, further demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and evidence-based care. Her patients and students alike benefit from her clarity, compassion, and pursuit of the highest standards in medicine.
Outside of her professional achievements, Dr. Carr leads an active, well-rounded life. She enjoys playing tennis, running with her dog Milo , and spending quality time with family and friends . Her energetic, balanced lifestyle reflects the same enthusiasm and dedication she brings to her work in ophthalmology.
Dr. Carr earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Honours with Distinction from McGill University and her medical degree from the University of Toronto School of Medicine.
Dr. Carr’s ophthalmology training took place at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she served as Chief Resident. After completing her residency training, she was honored with the Academic Achievement Award for her contributions to the academic program at McMaster University. Dr. Carr has extensive research experience and has contributed to multiple research projects and manuscripts.
